Bonn, May 15, 2026 – The 68th Values Forum hosted by the Wertekommission e.V. in May highlighted how closely digital development, social responsibility, and values-based leadership are intertwined. The event focused on the question of how digital sovereignty can be achieved without losing sight of trust, resilience, and shared values. Against the backdrop of geopolitical tensions, increasing cyber risks, and rapid technological change, it became clear that digital independence extends far beyond technical infrastructure.
The Values Forum took place at the House of History of the Federal Republic of Germany in Bonn, a venue that uniquely connects the past, present, and future. As a sponsor of the evening, we were part of a dialogue with representatives from business, politics, the German Armed Forces, academia, and civil society. The event thus provided a framework for diverse perspectives on one of the central questions of our time: How can digital transformation be shaped responsibly?
The panel discussion featured Claudia Alsdorf from Schwarz Digits, Brigadier General Dr. Volker Pötzsch, Dr. Timo Haas from Rheinmetall, and Prof. Dr. David Matusiewicz. The discussion was moderated by Dr. Philipp Busch, Chairman of the Board of Trustees. Topics included cybersecurity, trustworthy data spaces, AI infrastructures, and resilient digital ecosystems. The discussion highlighted that digital sovereignty has not only a technological dimension but also social and security policy dimensions.
For us, the 68th Values Forum was an important source of inspiration and an inspiring evening offering valuable perspectives. It demonstrated once again that digital innovation requires not only technological expertise but also the right mindset, trust, and a long-term perspective.
