Remote AI Design Sprint® at the Hotel Esplanade Dortmund

As part of a Remote AI Design Sprint®, we worked with Hotel Esplanade Dortmund to identify potential areas for digital optimization in hotel operations. The goal was to develop practical AI-supported solutions for key areas such as shift planning. In addition, the aim was to strengthen the team's understanding of digital technologies and provide impetus for future development.

Shortcuts to the project

In this project, we conducted a Remote AI Design Sprint® together with colleagues from various departments at the Hotel Esplanade, including housekeeping, banqueting, accounting, and management. The goal was to identify potential areas for digital optimization in hotel operations and develop specific applications for AI-supported solutions. The focus was on areas such as duty scheduling, onboarding, inventory, and complaint management. At the same time, the aim was to improve internal processes through digital technologies and raise awareness of the added value of digital tools within the team. The main challenges were dealing with different levels of prior digital knowledge, ensuring secure and structured implementation in a remote format, and focusing on a prioritized process in order to develop practical solutions within the budget.

Mapping Session
At the outset, we jointly identified the key challenges and potential for digital support in the areas of duty scheduling, onboarding, inventory, and complaint management.
AI Cards
In the next step, we worked with AI Cards to develop concrete solutions and technical possibilities and make them visually tangible—always with the realistic conditions of an individual hotel in mind.

The AI Design Sprint® was a great process for us, perfectly sized and very effective. In some areas, the solutions were more extensive than our budget allowed, but the team development aspect in particular was extremely valuable. Employees became aware of their technical development potential—with all the advantages and disadvantages that this entails. This has helped us enormously.
